Details: | The Genealogist’s Google Toolbox - PDF eBook, by Lisa Louise Cooke; 2011, 209 pp; PDF downloadable eBook; Downloads are available immediately upon placing order; Item # LU01-PDF This eBook on using Google for genealogy is an excellent volume. Lisa is known for her Genealogy Gems podcast website, and had become a popular speaker on the lecture circuit during the last couple of years. She lectured on using Google Earth at RootsTech, which was very well received. This is a great guidebook, in that it’s heavily illustrated and geared toward showing the genealogist how to use many of the free online “tools” that Google has made available to us. The use of the “tools” is laid out in a step-by-step manner that anyone can follow. The first 5 chapters all deal with Google’s Search abilities, followed by chapters on Google Alerts, Gmail, iGoogle, Books, News Timeline, Translation, YouTube & Video, Google Earth (in all its glory!), Family History Tour Maps, and an amazing “How to” index at the back. Following is a list of the chapters found in the volume:
I like the guidebook, and recommend it to anyone who wants to get more use of the online “tools” available to them.
